This current system is SAS-based and can be very difficult to update the back-end with fee changes. There are also multiple systems that report course fees and each requires manual updating when fee changes occur. The front-facing calculator is not user-friendly, lacking basic functionality such as a text-based search. The University has formalised PowerBI as its data platform, which could be an option for better presentation of course and unit fee information to its users.
As a minimum viable product, we would be looking for a modernisation of the UWA Fee Calculator's presentation and functionality. An enhanced product would also consider other related functions (e.g. course planner) and could consider appropriate back-end data structures that would improve the overall efficiency of fee information-impacted systems.
