Recording student attendance from enrolment to graduation
As a requirement of course accreditation, student attendance at Podiatry clinics needs to be recorded and absences noted.
Podiatry currently uses spreadsheets to record student absences. However, it can be difficult to follow students over several years, and it's easy to miss patterns and nuances in the data.
The proposed system requires:
Log-ins to restrict access.
Profiles for students based on synthetic data provided, e.g. DOB, student number, contact details, enrolment status.
Users can record student absences by going into each profile individually. Variables of interest: Unit (dropdown list) option to select multiple units, Activity (dropdown list lecture, clinic, etc.), Date (calendar), Time (dropdown list), Reason (dropdown illness, late, event, other), Notes (optional text box).
Users can also do a bulk upload of absences for one unit/course.
Students with more than a set number of absences per year are flagged and an email is automatically sent to a designated user.
Up-to-date reports can be generated to show details of absences based on different specifications, e.g. per year, per course, per unit, per student.
Graphical depictions of data, e.g. which unit has the most absences, trends in absences over time.
Backdoor/admin privileges to be assigned to certain accounts, who can then give admin rights to another account. Admin privileges: update student profiles/enrolment, create/edit units, assign unit coordinators, change variables, etc.
