Three dimensional deformation measurement in Python

Digital Image Correlation (DIC) is a well-known technique to measure two-dimensional deformation remotely with high accuracy. DIC requires two images: one before and one after deformation and measure the movement (displacement) of each point (pixel) in the image. The existing code is available in Python at https://github.com/texm/PReDIC.

The objective of this project is to extend the existing Python code from two dimensional deformation measurement to three dimensional derformation measurement. There are few existing open source codes doing the similar task in MATLAB such as https://github.com/MultiDIC/MultiDIC.

The mathematical and algorithmic side of the project is covered in the research literature and project requires to find or develop optimal tools to achieve the objective. The developed product needs to have expected high accuracy as well as computationally fast.
