Ethological software for fieldwork on Western Australian magpies

We are looking for a customisable and efficient method to collect behavioural field data.

We are PhD students working with magpies located in urban territories and as our fieldwork mainly consists of behavioural observations we need a program to streamline data collection, ideally on a handheld tablet that does not require internet.

Our study site consists of 14 groups of individually identifiable magpies ranging from 4-15 individuals per group. We would like the program to have a function to specify group membership and alter this as needed throughout the observational period. Specifically, we will either be doing vocals or group based observations and need a platform to easily select the individual of interest, the behaviour we observed and have this save automatically. This technology would be helpful not only for our projects but also for many other field studies involving behavioural observations.
