HobSwap lets you select hobby's that you would like to share and also select hobbies that you want to discover - https://i.imgur.com/DIaeBdL.png. Doing this helps HobSwap filter matches for you. An example would be if on my profile I listed 'Bike Sports' as a hobby I would like to share and on your profile you listed that you're interested in discovering 'Bike Sports'. My profile would appear in your matches page and also within the category 'Bike Sports'. - https://i.imgur.com/fdSXy7R.png.
There is obviously more functionality going on but would be better to talk in person.
A little back story - HobSwap (previously HobbieTrader) was built 3-4 years ago using Ruby on Rails but was never completed properly and has been offline for at least 2 years. We are interested in starting fresh with a coding language that you would recommend and doing this properly from he ground up.
p.s. We still have all the old Ruby on Rails files plus some HTML and PSD files.
