Higher Degree by Research data dashboard

The Graduate Research School (GRS) manages and administers all aspects of the admission, candidature and examination of students enrolled in the Doctor of Philosophy and most other Higher Degrees by Research (HDR) at the University. HDR students have unique curricula - they may commence at any time, progress at different rates and complete when their theses are ready. HDR completions are an important driver of funding into the University, and HDR enrolments, progress and completions require close management. In addition, the University needs to be able to project future completions.

HDR data in the student system are complex and dynamic. While data can readily be extracted, interpretation and analysis are resource-expensive, and currently there is no facility for data visualisation beyond Excel.

The GRS needs a data dashboard to improve its ability to monitor and project HDR enrolments, progress and completions. The project would need to be undertaken in close consultation with University IT, to ensure that any facility that is built is fully compliant with University requirements and can be supported beyond the end of the student project.
