EarthScience Toolbox
The Client is an environmental consultancy working with the mining industry to assist them with meeting their environmental obligations. This work often involves receiving small to large environmental data sets for processing and interpretation often requiring the creation of specialist plots and charts. The Client has some experience with python but is not a data scientist or CS major. Client has previously been involved in two other CS projects resulting in successful completion.
The Project is to create a fast and convenient means to perform some basic data processing and generate custom plots of environmental data. It is envisaged that the project will use python programming language (due to client familiarity) and the pandas library to read spreadsheet/CSV data. The program will allow the user to choose desired options, and then create publication-quality plots/charts (matplotlib, seaborn libraries etc.). If the project timeline allows, additional development would hopefully include:
- Program to be converted into a python package or even a .exe with GUI for Windows users without python experience or experience with using the command line.
- Plots to be made interactive (plotly, bokeh, flask etc.) and deployed to company web server as part of an externally accessible web dashboard .
