Kimberley Travel Survey Smartphone App

We want to develop a smartphone App to collect travel diary information on users' 4WD trip through the Kimberley, WA.

This App will be in 2 parts. The first part is a short series of background information and questions.

The App will then, on a daily basis, have a `popup' notification prompting the user to make a daily travel diary entry. This could be like a mini survey, a series of questions asking for details about where they visited, what facilities are at the site, how satisfied they are with the site, and an option to upload a photo. Including a confirmation of the camp position on a map of the Kimberley (that is included/downloaded with the App), the user can manually adjust/enter the position if the GPS is incorrect or turned off. These trip entries will form a travel diary, users can also manually edit and add diary entries.

The App needs to be able to store the travel diary and survey data, which can then be uploaded to a server when the phone has internet connection. This process should be automatic and occur in the background (data size should be small). The software also needs the capability to generate a visually pleasing travel diary `product', using the travel diary data. There are other Apps on the market that already do this.

The final App should be able to install on peoples phone using direct transfer (via Bluetooth or USB). We will provide more information including the series of questions for both the survey and travel diary entries, and some graphics/images as needed. The map of the Kimberley does not need to be high resolution, but have marked major roads and tracks and tourist destinations.
