Your journey to becoming the Legal Professional you want to be App
The UWA Law School has recently `renewed' its postgraduate Juris Doctor (JD) program by integrating
a guiding philosophy of Legal Professionalism throughout the course.
In doing this, we help our students prepare for their future career in law by developing
their personal professional identity and sense of wellbeing.
The journey to achieving Legal Professionalism begins early.
We would like to develop an App that will assist each student to plot his or her progress on this journey.
The journey App would target:
-
High-school and undergraduate students who are thinking of becoming lawyers - the App would encourage them to begin to think about what it means to be a lawyer, the type of lawyer that they would like to be, why they should come to UWA Law School
-
JD students - the App would assist them to:
- navigate their way around the JD program;
- track their development of the course learning outcomes and graduate attributes;
- monitor and maintain their wellbeing in what is commonly a competitive and inhospitable environment;
- prepare for a future career in law by planning their study program (including option units, exchange etc.), clerkships and other experiential learning opportunities, volunteering, and the graduate recruitment process.
-
Graduating students - the App would allow them to explore a range of possible careers in law.
Much of the substantive content for the App is already written.
It would be a matter of arranging it in an easily accessible and fun format
to assist students and potential students plot and keep track of their `journey'.
