Development of iOS & Android Mobile Application for the RCSWA REFLEX Platform
REFLEX is the Rural Clinical School of Western Australia's flagship web platform. It is used by Rural and Integrated Medical Practice Students to submit their Patient Case Logs, Structured Clinical Assessments, and Procedural Logs for feedback and assessments.
One of the challenges with using a web platform is access in rural areas and hospitals with weak reception. Occasional submission issues have arisen, and our intended solution is to develop a mobile app with offline support.
Key Facts
-
The mobile app only focuses on accessing and submitting data. No business/complex development logic is required; the REFLEX back-end will handle any proprietary stuff and keep the mobile app simple and clean of any IP code.
-
The mobile app needs to support Android and iOS devices, with the ability to fetch and submit the data using a RESTful API. It is imperative that the data is stored offline in case of submission issues.
-
There are no hard requirements for the preferred mobile development stack. The GPL licence can be used. Please do note that the REFLEX developers will need to maintain a fork. Upstream contributions will be done for the students' benefit and experience.
