Honours classification in BE(Hons)

The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) is a four year degree with integrated Honours. This means all students who graduate from the BE(Hons) will receive an Honours class - H1, H2A, H2B, and H3 (pass). The Honours class will be determined using an adjusted weighted average, EH-WAM, and the student's mark for their capstone individual project GENG4411/12. The EH-WAM will be calculated using only the Level 3/4/5 units in a student's engineering major.

This project involves taking information about all units and marks completed by a student (excel spreadsheet in first instance), and (i) checking the declared major matches units undertaken , (ii) identifying Level 3/4/5 units in their engineering major, (iii) calculating the EH-WAM, (iii) determining the Honours class using the EH-WAM and GENG4411/12 mark. It also involves identifying students with incomplete data (e.g. a student who may have gone on exchange and been credited for a core unit which impacts the EH-WAM).
