Keyboard typing practice app for non-latin language (Korean)

One of the challenges of learners of non-Latin script languages is getting used to type with a keyboard with a different layout. While languages such as Japanese or Chinese can input characters following their pronunciation typed with Latin alphabet characters, this is not possible for the Korean language as the characters of the Korean script have their own layout on the keyboard. A few online applications providing typing exercises for native speakers exists, but because of their target they are not suited for learners of Korean as a foreign language. This project aims to provide Korean as a foreign language learners at UWA a tool to develop their typing skills, an increasingly necessary skill in an era where online and remote education is in the spotlight. The project needs to provide the possibility to create a personal account. It will include structured exercises to learn how to use the Korean keyboard and typing speed games (typing word/sentences/paragraphs). The structure and content of the exercises will provided by the client. If the application development is successful, it will be used by about 350-400 UWA Korean language students every year.
