Establishment of a Research Performance and Impact portal

In August 1957, Mary Raine signed a Deed of Trust bequeathing her property portfolio to the University of Western Australia for the purpose of funding medical research. The Raine Medical Research Foundation represents the largest bequest received by the University for medical research, with a total funding distribution of close to $50mill thus far to medical research in Western Australia. The Foundation has a strong reputation with researchers and partners for supporting research excellence, and for upholding robust and equitable grant review processes, including international peer review. To view our website, please visit: http://rainefoundation.org.au/.

Our research funding recipients are asked to provide annual reports for the term of their grant, which provide data about their ongoing research progress and outputs, and their research performance. We would like to establish a portal that researchers can log into to enter and add to this data. Much of the performance data (including publication numbers, citations, and H-index) can be sourced externally from existing databases, such as Web of Science and Scopus. We would like to automate the collection of this data within the portal so that researchers dont have to provide this separately. But the portal would also include fields (that admin can edit) for researchers to enter both quantitative and qualitative data that cant be accessed elsewhere. Ultimately, we'd like to use the portal for long-term follow up with alumni so that they can login at five-year intervals and update information within their profile. Researchers would have separate profiles and we'd like to display ongoing quantitative data for individuals in a graphical format. Additionally, we'd like to be able to pool total recipient quantitative data into a graphical format and extract all data in Excel, Word, or PDF formats.
