deformation measurement in Python

Digital Image Correlation (DIC) is a well-known technique to measure two-dimensional deformation remotely with high accuracy. DIC requires two images: one before and one after deformation and measure the movement (displacement) of each point (pixel) in the image. The existing code is available in MATLAB. The objective of the project is to convert the code into Python. There are few existing libraries doing the same task such as https://pypi.org/project/muDIC/. The accuracy needs to be measured to ensure that Python code is as accurate as MATLAB. The second objective is to extend the code to measure deformation in three dimensions. The mathematical side of the project is covered and project requires to find or develop optimal tools to achieve the objectives. The developed product needs to have high accuracy as well as computationally fast.
