Connecting People, Places and Names through History
I'd like a programme that is like a genealogy programme but can be
used on the web as a resource, not to connect people as something like Ancestry does but is able to connect people through generations. That means creating individuals, connecting them to partners and children.
Would it also be possible to connect people through work associations? I don't know - just a thought.
I'm looking for a programme into which data can be input for the details
of a person, but then also be able to pinpoint on a map where they were
at particular point in time. This detail will be supported with
archival data which I would also like to have included in the programme.
So for example if I have a man called Jack Gijup I would like to have
easy links to archival data on him, a scanned document and that information marks him in particular places and times
I would also like to link individuals within the programme to data stored
in other sources, such as museums or libraries. This is particularly the
case when it comes to photos, but is also necessary for songs for example, or recordings.
So I would like it to be possible to connect photos with place as well. Do you know what I mean?
If a photo is sourced and we know it was taken at a particular place I would like the photo to be connected to a point on a map.
The map would be of Western Australia and include Rottnest Island, the islands near Esperance and the islands in the north such as Dorre and the other one near it and Sunday Island further north.
I want to be able to make this data available to be searched on the UWA website.
